Buckle Program Manager Shortlisted for 2021 Women in IT USA Awards
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Sept. 22, 2021 — Casey Jones, Program Manager at Buckle, the inclusive tech-enabled financial services company serving the gig economy and rising middle class, was honored virtually at the Women in IT USA Awards ceremony on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 for being shortlisted in the prestigious Outstanding Contribution of the Year category. The Women inIT Awards are hosted by DiversityQ, advocating for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and supporting organizations in creating a culture where everyone is heard and respected. The honorees were chosen by an independent panel of expert judges.
“Casey’s efforts were critical to business continuity under the challenging constraints brought on by the pandemic,” said Bob Dougherty, Head of Advocacy and Impact at Buckle. “As a result of Casey’s work over the last year, Buckle was able to provide significant assistance to our Members affected by the pandemic and sustain our best-in-class service standards. She is well-deserving of recognition by the 2021 Women in IT USAAwards.”
Casey joined Buckle as marketing project manager six months prior to the onset of the pandemic. When COVID hit, Buckle experienced disruption in every aspect of the organization. Casey took over as scrum master, project manager, and added product owner responsibilities.
Casey led two major initiatives: 1) Buckle CARES, a pro-bono program that helps rideshare and delivery drivers of the gig economy access grants and loans of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, and 2) transitioned customers to a new insurance technology platform. Buckle’s Net Promoter Score (NPS) held steady between 80-81.29 in the months before and after the December 2020 transition, up from an NPS of 60 in March 2020 when Casey took over the team.
“Working at Buckle, I rarely have to think about the fact that I’m a woman in a male-dominated industry,” said Casey Jones. “We have wonderful, extremely qualified team who treat each other with respect. I am thankful to be shortlisted for this Women in IT Award, which is a thank you to all the women who have overcome challenges and to all the men who have advocated so that we can work without gender being an influencing factor in our careers. I am also thankful for my team at Buckle for advocating for me and recognizing my work.”
Prior to Buckle, Casey was a Senior Producer for Second Story Interactive Studios. She has held digital product manager positions for Home Depot and Aflac.
Diversity is critical in tech, as it enables companies to create better products that take everyone into consideration, not just partial segments of society. The Women in IT Awards aim to recognize advocates, role models, and allies who are looking to break down barriers for women in tech.
