In recent years, the number of freelance workers in the U.S. has skyrocketed. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the acceptance of the gig economy, as we have come to rely on the food, prescription, and package delivery services that rideshare drivers provide. Dustin talks about how Buckle supports these rideshare drivers with better, more comprehensive, more affordable auto insurance whether they are on or off the clock. This is in contrast to traditional insurance only offering high premiums based on traditional underwriting.
Buckle throws credit score out of the equation when underwriting insurance, using better data to determine risk. The company works with various partners so drivers don’t have to input lots of information to acquire a policy, further supporting these busy entrepreneurs.
Dustin worked for many years at Akamai Technologies, where he held various roles in business development serving Fortune 100 companies, including Coca-Cola and Cox with consulting, technology, and strategy services. For more than a decade, he was the owner and President of AutoTown Insurance, one of the largest insurance agencies in the Southeast.
In 2017, Dustin launched Buckle with the goal of helping gig economy workers access affordable financial services they need to be financially secure, helping them to achieve economic freedom.
The first annual AutoTech Effect series at the NADA Show in 2019 brought together forward-thinking leaders to discuss technology's future in the automotive space. The conversations have expanded into the world of data, connectivity, IoT, insurance, and better end-to-end consumer experiences. For more information, go to: https://www.autotecheffect.com.
