How do I get a quote?

Getting a quote is easy. Simply visit signup.buckleup.com. You’ll be guided through a few questions and have your quote in about 5 minutes. Aren’t you curious to see how good it could be?

How do I buy the policy?

Get your quote first and we’ll guide you to the next step. If you’re just checking to see what your quote could be, there’s no pressure.

Do I need to drive for a rideshare company or transportation network?

Straight answer, yes. In order to offer such low prices we rely on rideshare information to determine rates. If you have any questions around the status of your account and your eligibility, contact us and we’ll walk through it.

What type of insurance do I need?

The choice is yours. We have multiple levels to fit your specific needs. Check out our Basic, Full Coverage, or Custom options:

  • Basic – This gives you minimum liability coverage only, as required by law. Liability includes coverage for bodily injury and property. This is the lowest level of coverage, so it will always be the lowest price.

  • Full Coverage – “Full Coverage” means you have Basic coverage, and also collision & comprehensive for your vehicle. Having your vehicle covered protects you against accidents, and things like theft.(This does not cover theft of contents, FYI.)

  • Custom – This option allows you to mix and match different types of coverage. You can include coverages like uninsured motorist or medical payments. Whatever you want for peace of mind.

How can I pay for Buckle insurance?

All the easy ways. We accept credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards.

How do I switch to Buckle from my current insurance?

Buckle replaces your current insurance. Our one policy will give you all the coverage you need. If you need help after you purchase Buckle, we can help cancel your previous insurance. You may even get a refund from “unused premium.” If you have any questions about the process, you can contact us and we’ll walk you through it.

How is Buckle insurance different from “TNC” provided insurance policies?

TNC insurance only covers you while you are rideshare driving. Buckle has you covered for personal and commercial use. In short, Buckle offers total coverage for better prices.

Can I add other people to my policy?

We allow you to add your spouse, or others who live in the same household (provided you both have the same address) to your policy.

How do I make a change to my policy?

Just give us a call so you can speak to a licensed agent about any changes.

How do I renew my policy?

We’ll contact you when it’s time for a renewal. In the future we can set up an automatic renewal if you prefer that.

What is Buckle’s maximum vehicle coverage?

Vehicles can be covered up to $40,000. Any vehicle valued over $40,000 will be covered at $40,000. This applies to both Comprehensive and Collision.

Does my policy cover towing and rental?

Buckle does not include towing and rental coverage automatically.

What are my policy length options?

We offer six month policies.

What are my payment options?

You can pay in full or pay monthly. The first payment is due when you sign up.

How many vehicles can I have on my policy?

You can have two vehicles on your policy. Your only responsibility is to update your Buckle coverage within 30 days of acquiring the second vehicle, but the sooner the better.

Am I covered if I use/borrow someone else’s car?

We’re all about sharing. You’re covered while borrowing a vehicle if you stick to the rules. You’ll need permission from the car’s owner to use the vehicle in order to be covered. Keep in mind this has to be temporary, and only applies if your covered car is out of service because of:  1) breakdown, 2) repair, 3) servicing, 4) loss, or 5) destruction.

What if I stop driving for Lyft?

With how our policy is structured, you have to be an active rideshare driver to use Buckle. If you end your relationship with the transportation network(s) your coverage will not be renewed. We’ll be sorry to see you go.

What if I move out of the state in which I’m insured?

If an insured or insured vehicle is relocated outside of your state during the policy term, the policy may be non-renewed or cancelled.

Can I cancel my policy?

A policy can be canceled in the following circumstances:

  • The company is provided evidence of a duplicate, concurrent coverage in the form of a company-generated declaration page

  • Request for flat cancellation is received prior to the policy effective date

  • The insured is no longer on “active” status with a TNC

  • Within 5 (five) business days of the policy effective date, proof is provided that the insured never took ownership of the vehicle.

  • Insured requests for other cancellations, either via the insured or the company, are processed using the pro-rata method.

How are Buckle’s rates determined?

We use a variety of methods to offer rates that are unbiased, low and fair. See details below:
Rates are determined by classifying risks through driver experience, garaging zip code location, driving time, vehicle or risk surcharges, and/or other discounts. Driving record points, including both accidents and violations, are assigned from activity during the most recent 36-month period preceding the effective date of coverage. We do not look at personal data like credit score or driver age when assessing risk.
